Hello, I am Dominique Zhao, but I go by ‘Dom’ at work. I have been living in Dallas, Texas since 2000. Prior to Texas, I went from Hong Kong to Louisiana to Arkansas. My degree was in Graphic Design. I started out as a graphic designer in an internal communication team under the IT department of Sprint, and that was how I emerged into the technology side of big corporations.
While working at Sprint, I went from team to team due to reorganization, and I ended up working with software developers providing them designs and graphics. Back then, the term ‘User Experience’ did not exist and I was already doing information architecture work without knowing there was going to be a formal role title to describe it. After 7 years at Sprint, I went to Sabre, where I did UX research and discovery work and had the opportunity to design with many talented designers who later became prominent UX gurus here in Dallas.
For over 13 years in the UX field, I have worked in several industries such as telecommunication, travel, retail, and tax. I really enjoy designing software and have a lot of experience working directly with product stakeholders and developers in Agile environments.
I have a track record of solving complex problems and delivering quality work on time. I am an organized person, and I like facing new challenges.
When I am not working, I love cooking and doing things with my husband and spending time with my children. We like doing puzzles, building models, gardening, and watching movies. We also have a passion for going road trips. We have a goal to visit all 50 states and so far, we have visited the whole southern half of the USA.
